Selections from American humourists of the time, “recent and living”, from sketches contributed to the “Weekly Scotsman” and the “People’s Friend”. Ford provides a drawing of the humourist, an introduction and good samples of his writing. A collection featuring Artemus Ward, Mark Twain, Bret Hart, Oliver Wendell Holmes, James Whitcomb Riley, Eugene Field etc. It is unlikely there is an American equivalent of this edition (since it seems to have been published for a British readership).
