Kendrick was an American writer who produced some fine mysteries in the thirties and forties, and is best remembered for his blind detective, Duncan Maclain (“Blind Man’s Bluff” and “The Odor of Violets” etc.). “Hot Red Money” (a non-Maclain title) is set in the world of newspapers and involves industrial crime. The UK edition is scarce, and has great vintage jacket art (uncredited), quite different to that produced for the US Dodd, Mead edition of 1959.
