A novel by the author best-known for his stories with Welsh settings, including the famous “How Green Was My Valley”. The above title (a story of a Cockney drifter’s relationship with his dying mother) was filmed by Hollywood with mixed results in 1944 (from a script by Clifford Odets), starring Cary Grant and Ethel Barrymore, who won an Academy Award for her efforts.
